Cat Portraits From Colmar France

Traveling through Europe became an exchange with my art, Specifically Pet Portraits, during an apartment stay in Colmar, France.

The internet has truly been a gift for all who love to seek the world for connections. Jim researches our trips through the internet, reading for unique places of interest and places to stay wherever we travel. He chose to connect with Chez Leslie, viewing her excellent Bed and Breakfast website, and decided to confirm this is the place to stay from what he read in reviews, further discovering she also has an apartment for rent within Colmar, France.

Leslie interviews us, referencing my website and viewing my pet portraits, and offers an awesome trade: a week's stay in the apartment for two pet portraits of her two characterful cats. It’s a DEAL!

Leslie is a hostess with the mostess!… I also enjoyed meeting the pets one early morning trying to get some of my own photos. Fuzzy Cat was just back from her morning hunting spree and was relaxing in the morning light on top of the breakfast table. It turns out that there were going to be neither action shots nor eyes-open shots. Clearly, she was retired for the morning and in no mood for tourists and their imposing cameras.

Softy, the black cat, didn’t seem to mind my camera while lounging on the white feather duvets in the morning, waiting for bed-making time so she could get fluffed too. Later on in the year, Leslie sent me several pictures catching the huntress Fuzzy in action and eyes open wide.

I listen to the stories of each pet about their uniqueness, character, nuisances, and habits while deciding with the client what they would like to feature MOST about their pet and what color background, maybe adding possible toys, symbolic images to tell more about the story of who this pet resembles. Several pictures can be helpful for details, and I will combine design concepts, imagination, reality, and symbolism, picking out the best features.
