Art Deco, also known as Le Style 25, originated from the luxurious French school of design that garnered significant attention during the 1925 Paris Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, also known as the Paris World's Fair. Today, many of us love Art Deco for its fluidity of curvy designs, which have been used to decorate our homes, objects d'art, and architecture.

Sketchbooks are for anyone and can be used for thinking, much like a fingerprint, and for relaxation. Everyone, like a fingerprint, has a unique expression that allows the brain to transfer information down the arm, creating a visual dance of marks —a personal language.

Art Deco is one of my favorite eras of design, characterized by the use of the nude motif. Gloriously, the Art Deco nude is displayed on everyday objects, such as pots and lamps, offered to those who are not afraid of the beautiful human form. Looking back, my passion for the nude in art and design is definitely influenced by growing up in Europe.

Copying art is a long-term learning process that allows you to see how the originator might have expressed their art. Drawing Art Deco sketches is about downloading ideas and methods that will influence my future art making.
Get a sketchbook, study something, and dive into the more profound realm of seeing. I promise you that something profound will be revealed.
