The nude has always been a favorite topic for me to paint and draw. The nude body offers many challenges with its subtle complexities and unique movements as each muse undresses before our eyes.
An artist who captures the pose needs to move fast to draw the figure. I like to use charcoal sketches for striking fast with curvy lines. It feels like magic to catch the essence of the muse.
The professional 'life drawing' models are amazing people as they become our muses offering their nude bodies for 3 hours in a life drawing session. They develop an ability to stand and sit still for long periods of time so the artist has time to get all the gestures, shadows, and nuances.
